Wunuvakind Heavy Cloth Pads

Would you like a pad that is the only pad of its kind on the whole planet? Look no further! Here they are!

I made these with fabric scraps, so these are super extra waste reducing. Take that, landfill! Actually, don’t take anything, we’ll hold onto these.

One of a kind pads made from fabric remnants!

We all know cloth pads reduce waste- but these bad boys double down. The pads I’ve put together here are made with fabric leftovers that have waited months or years for their time to shine. Now they get to be your pad to have and to hold from this day forward!

I made the sizes I could with the fabric I had- so we’re workin’ with heavy, standard liners, and thong liners. (Liners are listed separately, click on those links to check them out!

Here are descriptions of each heavy pad in the photos:

A – Red base with blue core patterned with lobsters

Heavy Pad Info:

Heavy Cloth Menstrual Pad

This heavy cloth pad is perfect for moderate to heavy flows! The 100% cotton flannel fabric, as well as the cotton terry cloth in the pad core (the part that’s shaped like a peanut), are super absorbent, quick-drying, breathable, and breath-takingly soft. They also have a layer of PUL, a waterproof fabric, that covers the entire base of the pad. So, these offer a serious amount of coziness AND protection against leaks? What the heck could be better than that?

Dimensions:

9.5 inches long

2.25 inches wide at the middle, not including wings

2.5 inches wide at both ends

& Each wing is 2 inches wide.

Cleaning Instructions:

Rinse or soak with cold water ASAP to reduce staining. Machine wash cold, then air dry thoroughly.

Wash with gentle detergents that you won’t mind gettin’ up close and personal with. Avoid fabric softener, because it actually makes fabrics less absorbent! (Gasp!) Remember: COLD water does the best job of lifting blood stains!

Materials and Good-To-Knows:

These pads are made with cotton flannel, terry cloth, and polyurethane laminate (PUL) (a waterproof fabric)! The PUL lines the entire base of these heavy pads, so even the wings are leakproof! The only areas where the lining is punctured is the semicircle at one end of the pad, and the snaps, of course! If you tend to bleed more toward the back of your pad, put the end with the semicircle toward the front. If you typically bleed more toward the front of your pad, do the opposite!

Liners

Liners have five layers of 100% Cotton Flannel. These are about 6.5 inches long. They don’t contain any terry cloth or PUL. They are great for a backup protection for a tampon or cup, for everyday use for discharge and spotting, and for super light days (like the very end of your period)! If you just want a little something to protect you from stains, or you like using liners on the daily, then these could be great for you.

Regular Pads

Regular pads contain four layers of cotton flannel and one layer of cotton terry cloth in the core of the pad. These pads are about 8 inches long. Since they are super absorbent and quick-drying, they are awesome for light to moderate flows. Also, they may also be used as a backup for a tampon or cup if you typically experience some moderate leakage.

Heavy Pads

Heavy pads have four layers of cotton flannel, one layer of cotton terry cloth in the pad core, and a layer of PUL that covers the whole base of the pad. That includes the wings! They are about 9.5 inches long. Because they contain quick-drying cotton and leakproof PUL, these are rad for moderate to heavy flows. If you experience some irregularity in your flow and want that assurance of protection against leaks, then these may be a great fit for you too!

Overnight Pads

Overnight pads are made of four layers of cotton flannel, a layer of cotton terry cloth in the pad core, and a layer of PUL that extends throughout the whole base, including the wings! These pads are about 11 inches long, and flare out at each end, but more so toward the back. Thanks to the absorbent, moisture-wicking cotton and leakproof PUL, these are great for heavy flows and overnight use!
